Lara Bryfonski is an applied linguist and assistant professor of linguistics at Georgetown University. Her research focuses on task-based language teaching and she is the Project Director of STARTALK-TASK, an NSA-funded task-based training program for critical language teachers. She recently co-authored the book The Art and Science of Language Teaching with Alison Mackey.

About Lara Bryfonski

Lara Bryfonski is an applied linguist and assistant professor of linguistics at Georgetown University where she conducts research on topics in second language learning and teaching, including: Task-Based Language Teaching (TBLT), teacher training, interaction and feedback, language learning in study abroad, and methods for applied linguistics research.

Her publications appear in journals such as the Annual Review of Applied Linguistics, Language Teaching Research, Modern Language Journal, and Studies in Second Language Acquisition, as well as a variety of edited collections.

She is a former English as a second/foreign language teacher and has taught language students from preschool to adulthood in a variety of contexts in the U.S. and abroad. She is the Project Director of STARTALK-TASK, a NSA funded task-based training program for critical language teachers.

She has an upcoming book co-authored with Alison Mackey, The Art and Science of Language Teaching published by Cambridge University Press.
